State logs 11 deaths, 1165 new cases

Imphal, July 27 2021:
The state continues to experience high positivity rate as Tuesday reported 11 fatalities and 1165 new positive cases of Covid-19 out of 6329 samples tested, thus registering a positivity rate of 18.41 per cent.
The positivity rate was slightly lower Monday's, which recorded 20.23 per cent, but the number of new cases rose on Tuesday proportionate to the number of samples tested in the last 24 hours.
At the same time, after registering a single digit fatality (9 cases) on Monday, double digit casualties was reported on Tuesday.
The average positivity rate for the current month rose from 15.75 per cent to 15.86 per cent on Tuesday.
The active caseload has reached 10,802 on Tuesday out of which 4882 (45.20 per cent) are in home isolation.
So far, 65,421 positive cases and 1124 fatalities have been reported since the beginning of the second wave.
On the other hand, 25,031 new cases and 348 fatalities were reported during the current month while 8098 new cases and 89 fatalities were recorded in the last seven days alone.
According to official reports, the 1165 new cases included 1161 people (586 male & 575 female) from among the general population and 4 personnel of Central Armed Police Force (CAPF).
Their samples were tested at RIMS (10), JNIMS (100), District Hospitals (831) and other testing centres (224).The positive cases from among the general population are from Imphal East (299), Imphal West (337), Thoubal (58), Bishnupur (105), Kakching (63), Ukhrul (12), Churachandpur (123), Chandel (66), Senapati (8), Tamenglong (31), Tengnoupal (2), Noney (9), Kangpokpi (23), Kamjong (12) and Jiribam (13) .
All necessary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.
The State Level Covid-19 Deaths Audit Committee reported 11 Covid-19 deaths in the last 24 hours but no information on age and gender of the deceased was provided.
The district wise fatalities are Imphal West (2), Imphal East (2), Thoubal (2), Kakching (1), Ukhrul (1), Kangpokpi (1) and Churachandpur (2).Only three of the 11 victims had Covid vaccines (first dose) and three did not have any co-morbid conditions.
The cumulative number of deaths stands at 1498.In the last 24 hours, 876 patients were discharged from home isolation (292), RIMS (21), JNIMS (12), CCCs (192) and CHICs (359).The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 94,821 (general population -90,849 and CAPF personnel - 3,972).Number of recovered cases is 82,521 (general population - 78,604 and CAPF personnel - 3,917) and number of active cases is 10,802 (general population - 10,752 and CAPF personnel - 50).The recovery rate is 87.02 per cent.
In the last 24 hours, 2160 D-type and 463 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities.
Meanwhile, 48 new positive cases were detected out of 277 samples tested from Monday 2 pm to Tuesday 2 pm in Kakching district.
Two positive cases were detected at Jivan Hospital, six at Ema Hospital and 40 at different government RAT sites.
One is from Thoubal district and the remaining are residents of Kakching district.
According to DSO Kakching, the cumulative number of infected person of the district has reached 5326 out of which 4597 have been discharged and 99 have died.
The active caseload is 630.A total of 28,287 vaccine doses were administered on Monday and the cumulative number of vaccinated individuals has reached 10,55,749 including 1,78,281 people who have got second dose of Covid-19 vaccine.
As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (31,944), Imphal East (21,294), Thoubal (8051), Churachandpur (8000), Kangpokpi (2251), Tamenglong (2709), Bishnupur (6707), Senapati (1708), Ukhrul (1691), Kakching (5244), Chandel (1857), Noney (762), Tengnoupal (935), Jiribam (941), Kamjong (552) and Pherzawl (175).Fatality counts in different districts are Imphal West (517), Imphal East (357), Thoubal (135), Churachandpur (131), Kangpokpi (48), Tamenglong (12), Bishnupur (138), Senapati (6), Ukhrul (17), Kakching (89), Chandel (27), Noney (3), Tengnoupal (9), Jiribam (6), Kamjong (3) and Pherzawl (0).However, the figure does not match with data released by CMOs and DSOs of some districts.
The state health authority is not willing to provide district-specific case status despite repeated request from media.
Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 30,558 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 22,569 CPM.
Test rate has improved to 3,41,564 tests per million population against the national average of 3,29,278 TPM.
Case fatality rate slid down to 1.58 per cent.
In the past 24 hours, 6329 samples were tested and the single day positivity rate was 18.41 per cent while the cumulative positivity rate rose to 8.95 per cent.
