Don Bosco College, Maram in UGC's 'excellence' list again

Adding another feather to its cap, Don Bosco College, Maram has been awarded one of the top three North East colleges by the University Grant Commission (UGC) .
In an official statement, UGC informed that Don Bosco College, Maram has been awarded the status of College with Potential for Excellence (CPE) by the UGC, New Delhi.
The UGC said, "The college noted for its excellence in academics and overall performance has been selected to be in the exclusive league of top and premier colleges of India" .
The UGC said that there are more than 40, 000 colleges in India competing one another to prove themselves as the temple of excellence.
Only three colleges from North East India including DKD College, Dergaon-Assam, Pachhunga University College-Aizawl and Don Bosco College, Maram have been selected for CPE status.
There was an interface meeting with the selection panel of UGC, New Delhi in January 2016 .
243 colleges from all over the country were invited for the interface meeting with UGC out of which 124 Colleges were selected.
Only three colleges from the North East States were selected by the UGC, New Delhi and given CPE status.
Apart from annually topping academic performances in Manipur Council, Manipur University examinations and achieving the highest NAAC grading in the State last year, Don Bosco College, Maram is today an educational power house of Manipur.
Known for its excellent trademark of sweeping exam records, the college has more than 1800 students with 15 subjects to offer assisted by more than 86 faculty members and more than 30 support staff members.
