Shija hospital achieves feat

In yet another feat, a 9 cm long needle (accidental injury) inside the lung of a girl was removed through key hole surgery on March 23 at Shija Hospital, Langol by a team led by Dr Kh Devendra, consultant surgeon and AMASI, National Faculty and Anaesthesia and Critical Care team led by Prof P Nishikanta Singh.
Three half cm incisions were made to visualise the neddle and remove it, a statement issued by Asst Manager, BD, SHRI informed.
C-Arm machine (real time X-ray imaging system) which was installed at Shija hospital for the first time in Manipur in 1998 was used during the operation.
An attempt was already made to remove it through open surgery elsewhere outside Manipur but it was unsuccessful, said the statement.
The girl recovered and was discharged from the hospital on March 25, it added.
