National Voter's Day observed across different districts

The District Election Office, Ukhrul while observing the 9thNational Voter's day held amass awareness programme on electoral rights and the duties of every citizens in a democratic nation.
Asst Commissioner, Ukhrul Robert Longjam sensitized the people about VVPAT, a new & innovative system for ensuring fairness while exercising their voting rights and informed the public that the district election office can be reached at free helpline no 1950, for any information related to election.
Addl Dy Commissioner, Ukhrul KH Leiyaphy Rita who is also Addl District Election Officer administered a joint pledge of Ukhrul denizens to participate in the election by safeguarding the democratic principles in free and fair manner and by showing mutual respect on the rights of every individual enshrined in the Constitution.
As a part of the voter's day, ADC Leiyaphy distributed EPIC card to the new registered individuals.
About 2000 new voters were reportedly registered in the national voter list from Ukhrul district.
During the observance, live telecast of election awareness, quiz and drawing competition on franchise rights were conducted by SDC Christian home.
Later, KH Leiyaphy Rita launched the District Contact Centre by cutting the ribbon in the presence of SDO Ukhrul Charchit Gaur, DFO Ukhrul Shangam Shaliwo and Asst Commissioner Robert Longjam.
Staffs from various departments of Ukhrul, BLOs and well wishers attended the national voter's day held at DRDA Multipurpose hall Mini Secretariat Hamleikhong, Ukhrul.
Tamenglong: In order to register the newly eligible youth (18+) in the electoral roll process and also to promote electoral participation, District administration of Tamenlong today celebrated National Voter's Day at Indoor Stadium, Lower Ground, Tamenglong Headquarter under the theme "No voters to be left behind".
The chief guest of the the programme, Deputy Commissioner of Tamenglong Ravinder Singh, IAS distributed EPIC cards to the new voters on the occasion.
In association with the civil society organisations, youth organisations, media houses and academic institution, the district level officers (DLOs) also celebrated the NVD at Tamenglong Headquarter.
Schools and Colleges functioning in Tamenglong District also took part in the NVD pledge on the day.
Chandel: The district election office Chandel organized National Voter's day at DRDA hall, Mini Secretariat, Chandel district Headquarters today.
The deputy commissioner, Krishna Kumar, who is also the District election officer, Sr SP Chandel, Angam Ramanus Kamei and assistant DC to DC Mahesh Chaudhary graced today's function.
During the function, newly registered voters of Chandel AC (42 & 42) who were felicitated by the district election officer expressed their happiness and spoke about their excitement to vote for the first time.
In today's function, systematic voters education and electoral participation (SVEEP) was inaugurated and a voting awareness photo exhibition was also held.
A report on SVEEP was also presented by the SVEEP nodal officer.
Along with a pledge taking ceremony and questions and answers session, T-shirts, caps and EPIC were also distributed as a part of the programme.
The function ended with speech by the chief guest and vote of thanks by SDC/BO (HQs), Chandel, Md Frizuddin Khan.
Bishnupur: As observed in different parts of India, the 9th National Voter's Day was also held today at Panchayat Resource Centre, Mini Secretariat Campus in Bishnupur District on the theme 'No voters to be left behind'.
The observance function, organized by District Election Office, Bishnupur, was attended by DC Bishnupur Pawan Yadav, SDO Bishnupur B Lalithambigai and SDO Bishnupur Ch Bobo Singh as dignitaries while various District Level Officers (DLOs) were also present.
As part of the event, a cycle rally carrying the message voter's day was flagged off from Ngaikhong Siphai by DC Bishnupur and culminated at Mini Secretariat.
Later, a quiz competition was also held based on election while a joint pledge was also administered to exercise voting rights in a free and fair manner.
CCpur: The 9* National Voter's Day 2019 was celebrated across the district under the auspices of District Election Officer, Churachandpur.
The celebration was held at all the sub-divisional headquarters while the district level celebration was held at District Training Center, Tuibong.
During the celebration programme, newly enrolled voters were felicitated with presentation of their Electoral Photo Identity Card (EPIC), National Voter's Day T-shirt and caps.
District level quiz competition was also organized wherein students from several schools of the district took part.
A painting competition was also organized in connection with the programme.
The National Voter's Day pledge was also administered by the chief guest Krishna Kumar, IAS, Assistant Commissioner.
In his speech, the chief guest stressed on the importance of exercising franchise and the right to vote.
He also encouraged the newly eligible voters to participate in the electoral process with enthusiasm.
Niangngaihlian and Khailalmuan of Don Bosco School, won the first prize of the district level quiz competition while Alex Pausuanmung and Ginpiaklian of Rayburn College settled at 2nd position.
T Robert Suankhanthang and Ruth Nunnem finished at 3rd position.
The painting competition was participated by everyone present in the programme and Jinita Hamam of JNV secured the 1st position while Ruth Nunnem of Don Bosco and Seiminthang of Tuibuong Govt H/S were adjudged the 2nd and 3rd prize winners respectively.
Thoubal: As observed in different parts of the country, District Election Office, Thoubal too organised the 9th National Voter's Day under the theme "No voters to be left behind" at the election counting hall of Thoubal DC today.
The event was graced by Thoubal DC, Haobam Rosita; SDO Thoubal, Binita Ngangbam and Deputy DEO/AC to DC, Teresa Tangpua as the chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
During the function, Teresa Tangpua and Binita Ngangbam spoke in details about the importance of enlisting the eligible person in the voters list and the motives behind observing "National Voters Day".
Haobam Rosita administered the NVD pledge of the voters and distributed Election Photo Identity Card (EPIC) to newly registered voters.
Later, a prize distribution ceremony of the district level painting competition conducted on October 18 last year under the theme, "Our enrolment for vote, a step towards nation making " was conducted.
Speaking on the occasion, Haobam Rosita urged all to exercise their rights to adult franchise with pride in the upcoming election.
