Kpi police seize liquor worth Rs one lakh

In connection with the upcoming State Level Chavang Kut to be held at Kangpokpi District Headquarters from October 31, Kangpokpi Police in its continuous surprised raid on shops selling liquor in the District Headquarters seized different varieties of liquor worth Rs 1 lakh here today.
Another surprised raid under the command of Addl SP (Ops), Kangpokpi was conducted this afternoon in downtown IT Road, Kangpokpi DHQs and seized huge quantity of different varieties of liquor from a liquor shop.
The police team seized 21 bottles of XXX Rum, 31 bottles of MC Whisky (Qtr), 38 bottles of Old Monk Rum, 10 bottles of OC Blue (Half), 24 bottles of MC Whisky (Half), 6 bottles of Signature, 3 bottles of Blenders Pride, 2 bottles of RC, 1 bottles of VAT 69, 1 bottles of Napoleon Whisky, 4 bottles of Antiquity Whisky, 4 bottles of White & Blue, 300 litres of local brew, 5 bottles of Can Beer and 10 bottles of Grape wine from Prakash Variety Store in downtown IT Road, Kangpokpi DHQs today.
It is estimated that the local value of the seized liquor is pegged at Rs 1 lakh said the Police source.
The source further said that in connection with the upcoming State Level Chavang Kut slated to be held from October 31 at Kangpokpi DHQs, a team of Kangpokpi Police under the instruction of IPS Hemant Pandey, SP Kangpokpi carried out surprise liquor drive in the town under the command of MPS Emmanuel Fimate, Addl SP (Ops), Kangpokpi, led by SI Thangboi Vaiphei, 2nd OC Kangpokpi PS so as to ensure peace and tranquility during the festive season of Chin-Kuki-Mizo harvesting festival since the past many days in Kangpokpi town.
The seized item were destroyed later by the police team and the local youths of Kangpokpi Youth Union in the presence of various other local bodies.
