Imphal, July 22 2014:
Protesting Transport Inspector Dina's failure to take action against four light passenger vehicles which operated service along Tiddim Road using fake transport permit, JAC Tiddim Road Bus Owner Association intensified their stir by parking around 130 buses along the road causing inconvenience to smooth traffic flow today.
The buses were parked on the western side of the road from early morning causing traffic congestion.
At some localities, buses were even double parked giving lots of inconvenience to the general public.
Today's agitation of transporters turned out to be a major woe to Tiddim Road residents as they have been already facing the inconvenience by road expansion works.
On the otherhand, people could not reach to their respective destinations due to suspension of service by transporters.
Smooth traffic movement could not be restored till late evening as police could not clear the road.
Speaking to reporters, JAC convenor A Babu said that the agitation would continue until Transport Inspector Dina is suspended.
He alleged that Dina had failed to take action against the owners of four light passenger vehicles for using fake transport permit despite Transport Director's directive.
All passenger bus service operators with exception to inter-State have also decided to join the agitation suspending their service from tomorrow.
If the Government fails to respond positively, the transporters may call State-wide bandh, he added.
