The All Manipur Chemists and Druggists Association (MCDA) has today clarified that the reported detection of foreign elements in a syrup was not the fault of the pharmacy while stating that the manufacturing company should be held responsible had it been proven.
A statement issued by the general secretary of MCDA, Dr RK Ratan Kumar said that the association has scrutinised closely all syrup bottles and did not detect any thing that contains foreign element.
It added that the batch number of some drugs would be sent to the concerned authority for necessary further verification.
When the company was contacted, it clarified that no objectionable items have been detected with the batch number in question while adding that there has been no such complaint throughout the country, the statement said.
The MCDA statement further urged all concerned to lodge any complaint regarding such bogus drugs by attaching the cash memo, batch number to the association.
