Imphal, March 21 2013:
Accusing the state government of denying due share of tribals in the state, Tribal Youth Council, Manipur (TYCM) served a reminder to its 8-point memorandum which had been submitted on dated 26/10/12 to Governor and demanded immediate implementation of various projects proposed in the hill areas.
In the reminder signed by its Speaker Luikang Lamak, TYCM pointed out that under provisions of Indian Constitution, tribal people are entitled to enjoy various protections and rights, and TYCM is only demanding to fulfill those provisions and rights of tribals in Manipur.
However, state government is not doing enough to uplift and fulfill the genuine aspiration and rights of the tribal people.
It also warned that if the state government does not take immediate action to implement the demands, TYCM would resort to democratic protest and agitations to express their anguish over Manipur government's negligence.
Meanwhile, in separate statements signed by their respectively Presidents, Tangkhul Mayar Ngala Long (TMNL); Tangkhul Katamnao Long, Imphal (TKLI) and Zingtun Tangkhul Katamnao Long (ZTKL) have extended support to the demands of TYCM.
The three Tangkhul bodies have also exerted pressures on the state government for not enstrusting Manipur Development Societty for any developmental work in Ukhul district.
