Imphal, February 21 2009:
Abduction of Kasom Khullen SDO, Dr Thingnam Kishan, MCS, his official driver, Aribam Rajen and his staff Revenue Mandol, Yumnam Token by some armed persons from the office of Ukhrul DC on February 13 and subsequent recovery of their lifeless bodies from under the Lukhrabi bridge near Taphou Kuki village in Senapati district on the morning of February 17 was a plot of some senseless elements to create communal clash.
This was stated by Lanngamba Mangang, Secretary, Publicity and Research, Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup (KYKL) in a press release e-mailed to press today.
Lanngamba Mangang stated that every human being should condemn the killing.
The murder is meaningless, too merciless and a senseless act of certain brainless people who can not ponder over what will follow in future, Lanngamba stated.
Even if it was a murder following a quarrel over NREGS, only the SDO ought to be concerned, the driver and the low level employee, Mandol should not have been killed.
There can be no logical explanation for killing the two, he said.
Besides, after killing them, throwing the dead bodies into the area of another community is a mean-minded ploy which will not last even two days.
It might have been done with a view to covering up the crime, and also a political conspiracy to make two other communities fight each other and watch them fighting.
This is a bigger crime than the murder itself.
In such a juncture where the communities have reached the extreme point of mistrust, killing persons of another community is also an act lacking political maturity and without thinking of future or an act of high-handedness or a deliberate plot to create communal clashes, Lanngamba Mangang observed.
He further stated that Dr Kishan was considered as a jewel to them.
After studying the articles and editorials written by him in The Eastern Quarterly and The Alternative Frames (Alternative Perspectives), it was thought that he was an intellectual torchbearer in our society where there was no intellectual leader.
The KYKL asked the people to read and study his papers newly, and people will come to know how tall a person he was and how much the society would have cared for him.
When he had become an MCS officer after getting down from such a high level of being an intellectual torchbearer, it was regretted that he had become ensnared in the low level trap of present day consumerism and riches, added Lanngamba Mangang in his press release.
