Imphal, February 20 2017:
Ahead of the ensuing State Assembly election, All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) candidate from Wangkhei Assembly Constituency, RK Priyobrata has assured that the party would not remain a mute spectator to the grievances faced by the 110 families of Lei Ingkhol who were evicted from the area by the Congress Government on the promises of relocating them to forest area at Mantripukhri, Imphal East district.
Addressing media persons at Nongmeibung today, RK Priyobrata said that the families have been reeling under intense misery after National Green Tribunal put a restriction on the relocation move.
He said that the eviction move of the Government violated human rights of the aggrieved families.
He mentioned that there is a plan to address the grievances endured by the families by sending a report to Chief Minister of West Bengal, Mamata Banejee through AITC vice-president Mukul Roy.
Reminding that AITC along with public had foiled land acquisition at Singur in West Bengal where Tata company had planned to set up its manufacturing plant, he said that the Government cannot acquire land at Lei Ingkhol forcefully without the consent of its people.
