'Imphal-Jiri road repairing work has begun'

Repairing work of Jiri road by BRTF (BRO) has started today, said BJP Vision Document convenor RK Ranjan who went to inspect the work.
Speaking to mediapersons, RK Ranjan said that BJP Vision Document was drafted to address various developmental issues of the State like roads including Highways, bridges and unemployment.
BJP Vision Document is like the party's manifestation.
He said that a team of 11 members went to take stock of the Imphal-Jiri road condition between October 10 and October 13 .
A report was then submitted to the Commandant of BRTF (BRO) Headquarters, Uchathol, Jiribam.
The final report will also be submitted to the Union Transport Minister soon.
"Between Keithelmanbi and Irang, there are 1000 potholes.
Due to constant plying of loaded vehicles transporting materials for construction of railway line, the road is in deplorable condition.
Tunnel digging work has added to the woes of the commuters.
Barak-Makru road which is 7-km long is always filled with muddy waters.
The mud waters got up to about 6 feet deep when the team inspected the road," RK Ranjan said.
The team also met the outgoing Commander In-Charge of BRTF 765.The team was informed that 60 per cent of the repairing work of Imphal-Jiri road is completed while 40 per cent of the work is yet to be initiated.
When asked about the condition of 70-km New Kaiphundai road, the team was informed that the road was not repaired as the BRTF was told it would be submerged in Tipaimukh dam waters.
Though the indefinite blockade along Imphal-Jiri road is underway, BRO is being exempted from the purview of the bandh.
As such, repairing work of Imphal-Jiri has started today, RK Ranjan informed.
While discussing the issue of land compensation, DC Luikham informed BJP that in accordance to the Land Acquisition Act 2013 which replaced its earlier version of 1894, process of land acquisition must be completed before providing compensation to the land owners.
