Imphal, December 17 2015:
Kuki Inpi, Manipur (KIM) today paid homage to its late leaders on the occasion of the 22nd General Assembly of the organisation here at Kuki Inn, Imphal.
A souvenir of KIM was released by ADC, Sadar Hills Chairman Haokholal Hangshing during the event.
KIM leader Ajang Khongsai attended as the speaker of the assembly.
He talked on the life of various departed KIM leaders and commended their efforts in bringing about welfare for the Kuki community.
KIM is the apex body of the Kuki people and is a nonprofit political organisation representing all tribes of the Kukis.
The session mainly discussed the development of Kuki Inn complex, Imphal and holding of next election of the body and budget arrangement.
It also seriously discussed the issue concerning bodies of nine protesters now lying in the mortuary of Churachandpur district hospital since the violent incidents of August 31 this year.
Violence erupted in Churachandpur and other parts of Manipur's hill districts after the State Assembly passed three 'controversial' Inner Line Permit System (ILPS) Bills on August 31.The KIM assembly could not take a final decision on holding funeral service of the nine 'martyrs' before the upcoming Christmas stating that the State Government was yet to meet all the demands.
The main demand of the tribal community in Manipur is that the three 'anti-tribal' Bills be withdrawn.
