HQ IGAR (South) celebrates 14th raising day

HQ IGAR (South) added yet another milestone to its glorious and splendid history as it celebrated its 14th raising day on March 15 .
Major General Virendra Singh, IGAR (S) paid homage to the martyrs at Mantripukhri Martyrs Memorial.
He also conveyed his greetings and best wishes to all ranks of HQ IGAR (South) and applauded their contribution towards creating a conducive and secure environment in the State.
Fondly called "Friends of Manipur", IGAR (South), the largest counter insurgency force in the country, has contributed not only towards maintaining security and peace in the State but has also aided development activities especially in the border areas.
Be it sports, cultural events, youth empowerment or well-being of the people, IGAR (South) has been at the forefront of all the social activities.
Driven by the urge to usher in peace and development in Manipur, the efforts of fourteen years are today visible on the peaceful streets of Imphal and other districts of Manipur, said Hq IGAR (South) in a statement.
"Several construction projects which have been undertaken by IGAR (South) on behest of the local population are the testimony.
Its dedication and enthusiasm to serve the people of the State selflessly is the reason why IGAR (South) is always looked up to by the people of the Manipur during times of need," it said.
The elegant culture and excellence in sports have also been nurtured well by IGAR (South) during the years gone by.
By showcasing the talent in sports at regional, National and international levels, providing them training, organising sports competitions, coaching camps, distribution of sports items, sponsoring selection in the armed forces and Assam Rifles, IGAR (South) has proved that it has been a true friend of the people of Manipur.
