Imphal, June 15 2014:
Zeliangrong Youth Front (Assam, Manipur, Nagaland) and Chandel Naga People's Organisation (CNPO) have pledged support to UNC sponsored 48-hour bandh to be clamped from the midnight of June 16 .
ZYF in a statement said that the Front would enforce the bandh to send out a strong message that UNC's demand for Alternative Arrangement is appropriate and justified especially for Zeliangrong people in order to keep intact of the ancestral land from being 'illegally' taken away.
Urging the public to extend support and cooperation, ZYF cautioned that anybody who defies the bandh would be responsible for any eventuality.
Speaking to reporters, CNPO President Ws Kanral Anal said that the bandh would be imposed on NH-102 from Khangshim to Moreh, Chandel district headquarters, Chakpikarong via Khambathel and Beru Wangkhera village.
The President appealed to all the associations of truck, bus, Tata Sumo-DI and autorickshaw operators and private vehicle owners to extend cooperation.
He further said that educational institutions' staff, media persons, PHED, Medical and Power Department employees would be exempted from the purview of the bandh.
