Imphal, January 14 2016:
Despite frequent disturbances on shipping LPG on the National Highways, the Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) has started taking up effective measures to make cooking gas available to consumers of the State.
According to a senior official of IOC Divisional Office (Retail Sales), Imphal, transporters, distributors and authority concerned have started working with better co-ordi-nation at Sekmai gas bottling plant.
No driver/transporter is allowed to move away from their respective vehicles until completion of unloading loading of LPG at the bottling plant, the official said.
Earlier, bottling plant officials staff sometimes waited drivers transporters for long time as they went away without informing them.
Absence of drivers/transporters at the time of unloading loading of LPG led to waste of time, he said and added that no such problem is experienced now after the recent measure has been put into effect.
The IOC official expressed confidence of resolving all the backlogs within this month stating that ground works for full implementation of online booking service is nearing completion.
On the other hand, despite all these measures taken up by IOC, one M Mangol, a consumer of MM Gas, usually receives subsidy amount late.
He got a filled LPG cylinder from his distributor on April 28 last year.
However, to his surprise, he received subsidy of Rs 277.91 twice on August 26 and 27 .
Mangol received another filled LPG cylinder on September 19 .
On the other hand, a consumer of the same agency received subsidy in his bank account in September last year although he took filled LPG cylinder in February the same year.
As such, presence of such discrepancies at other gas distributors can't be ruled out at this juncture.
Some consumers told The Sangai Express that the authority concerned would be flooded with complaints if such irregularities are not rectified on time although direct transfer of subsidy amount to consumers' accounts is a welcome step.
