Govt committed to creating jobs: Edn Min

Labour and Employment Minister Th Radheshyam Singh today assured the House that the Government is fully committed to ensure employment opportunities to unemployed people in the State.
Replying to a question raised by Opposition Member Surjakumar Okram, Radheshyam said that a State Mission on Employment, Housing and Drinking Water for each household in Manipur was approved in May 2017.However, the figure of 1,50,000 (jobs) per annum is tentative and is subject to revision as per Employment Exchanges' data and programmes and activities taken up by different departments in future.
A governing council headed by the Chief Minister was also formed and progress is being monitored, he added.
The Minister further informed that apart from normal budgetary provision for skill development and employment guarantee programmes of some departments, no specific additional budgetary grant is necessary at this stage.
Actions required for facilitating employment can be met from existing budgetary allocations.
Training under Prime Minister Kaushal VikasYojna is in progress and after its completion, employment will be generated, Radheshyam said.
Health Minister L Jayentakumar Singh informed the House that maximum health care support will be delivered free of cost to senior citizens and differently abled persons in the state.
Replying to a query raised by Opposition Member K Ranjit Singh, the Minister said that special OPD counters have been opened at JNIMS for senior citizens and persons with disabilities.
57 different tests facilities have been provided and planning is on to provide free dialysis to patients.
Besides this, plan to provide free MRI & CT Scanning is in the pipeline, he added.
Water Resources Minister Letpao Haokip informed the House that the Government is planning to meet any kind of havoc caused by floods in future.
The Minister said that main barrage of Dolaithabi Barrage Project is ready to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his proposed visit to the State in March.
However, the canal system and the distributary system will be completed in December, 2018.Replying to a query raised by Opposition Member Md.Abdul Nasir, the Minister said that repairing of Lilong Atoukhong canal and retrofitting it with sluice gate is under consideration.
