The ongoing preparations for the two-phased 11th Manipur Legislative Assembly election were reviewed by the Election Commission of India (ECI) at Delhi today.
The review meeting was attended by Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) VK Dewangan and police nodal officer L Kailun.
The meeting deliberated on the State's preparations for the ensuing election as well as the law and order situation.
It is reported that a full team of the ECI would conduct a video conference with the State's Chief Secretary, DGP Additional Chief Secretary (Home) and the CEO tomorrow afternoon.
A full team of the ECI including Chief Election Commissioner Nasim Zaidi would visit Imphal next week and review the State's preparation for the election, informed a source.
Altogether 11,19,270 voters and 7084 service are expected to exercise their right to adult franchise on the first phase of polls scheduled on March 4 followed by 7,74,473 voters and 4897 service voters in the second phase on March 8 .
Meanwhile as suggested by the CEO, the State Government has directed Deputy Commissioners to issue fuel under a permit system so that fuel is available to political parties, candidates and security personnel in sufficient quantities, informed another source.
