Nandalal's JON 17 grabs no 1 spot

Imphal, January 13 2018:
JON 17, the robot created by Johnstone Higher Secondary School student, Thiyam Nandalal using discarded bottles and electronic parts, has clinched the first prize at the Eastern India Science Fair.
The robot created by the class XI student not only claimed the first prize in the fair, which wrapped up today (the fair began from January 9) at Birla Industrial and Technological Museum (Kolkata), but also won the JC Bose trophy as well as the National Council of Science Museums (NCSM) Scholarship.
The scholarship for two years amounting to Rs 12,000, was handed over to Nandalal at the event.
After his invention JON 17 (built from discarded electronics, IV sets, syringes, bottles) won the first prize at the Eastern India Science Fair, Nandalal is now eligible for entry into the National Science Fair.
Thiyam Nandalal hails from Nambol Balaram Khul Maning Leikai, Bishnupur district.
On the other hand, numerous other distinguished individuals brought laurels to the State by winning the Acharya JC Bose Challenge trophy in the fair, including Thokchom Sagar for pattern making, Ch Khaute for mask making and RK Devisana in Life Science.
Manipur also won the Individual Exhibit Teacher Award in the Eastern Indian Science Fair.
