Imphal, January 13 2013 :
Clarifying that their January 11 meeting was purely to discuss the condition of Zeliangrong people, particularly the Kabuis, confining in the valley districts, in the event of settlement of Naga issue, President of Zeliangrong Union(Assam, Manipur and Nagaland)/ZU-AMN) Amu Kamei has asserted that the meeting did not take any resolution as reported in some sections of the media.
Addressing media persons at its head office at Kakhulong, Paona Bazaar, here today, President of ZU (AMN) Amu Kamei said that ZU had not taken any resolution in connection with the Alternative Arrangement demand of NSCN-IM.
However, the issue of the Alternative Arrangement of the NSCN-IM and the Indo-IM peace talk did come up for discussion in the meeting.
During the meeting it was discussed that Zeliangrong, Anal and other communities settling in the plains will remain in their earlier status and there will be no changes at all, Amu observed.
The meeting discussed the telephone calls made from Zeliangrong region over the demand for Alternative Arrangement of the Nagas in Manipur with regard to the interest of Zeliangrong tribes settling in the valley.
And all those who were present made their stand clear that Zeliangrong tribes settling in the plains would remain as they are, he said, adding that all the communities in the plains have live peacefully in the past and would continue to do so.
With regard to the confusion over the date for celebration of Gaan-Ngai, Amu Kamei urged the State Government to declare January 24 as Gaan Ngai festival in place of January 25, which has been noted in the holiday list of the State for the year 2013 .
In this connection, a serious deliberation was conducted in the office of ZU on January 11 where different experts and elderly persons of the Zeliangrong community were present.
At the end of the meeting, it was finally resolved that Gaan Ngai for the year 2013, actually falls on January 24 .
Therefore, the State Government should bring out a corrigendum in this regard and declare January 24 as Gaan Ngai, he maintained.
