Dr Gyaneshwar JAC suspends bandh

The indefinite bandh imposed in
Bishnupur district and Tiddim
road has been suspended by the
Dr Ningthoujam Gyaneshwar
JAC today in view of Patriots'
Day commemorating the
Anglo-Manipuri War of 1891.
The Joint Committee said
the strike has been suspended
in view of the Patriots' Day
celebration until further deci-
sion.
The 25-year-old intern
of RIMS from Keibul
Lamjao, Bishnupur is still in
coma at the Shija Hospital,
Langol after he was allegedly
assaulted by unknown per-
sons sometime ago.
According to media re-
ports the intern was found
unconscious inside the toilet
of Boys Hostel, RIMS,
Imphal.
Doctors said that it is pos-
sible that he had been
assaulted with a heavy object on the head as there seems to be internal bleed-
ing in the head and he is yet to recover from coma till today.
Lamphel police is investigating the case.
The authority of
Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) has been co-
operating with the case to ensure speedy determination of the
truth behind the incident.
The Joint Committee criticised the State Government for its
inability to establish the identities of the culprits till date.
It
appealed to all civil societies to extend support to the commit-
tee in its efforts to get justice in the case at the earliest.
