Imphal, November 08 2014 :
As a part of the on going protest by the All Manipur Government Aided School Employees Co-ordinating Committee demanding implementation of sixth pay commission and filling up of vacant posts, the Government aided school teachers launched a sit-in-protest yesterday at Keishampat community hall.
The sit in will continue till November 11 .
The State Education Minister had earlier processed a proposal to the Directorate (S) with recommendations from 25 MLAs, 6 Ministers, three Parliamentary Secretaries and Deputy Speaker, regarding the pay revision of Government aided school teachers.
Not long after, the Directorate has however, stalled and allegedly dropped the matter.
Regarding the filling up of vacant posts, the Principal Secretary (School Education) had, as per the State Cabinet's decision, notified the Directorate of Education (S) on June 20 to submit a list of Government nominees for holding a DPC.
The Directorate (S) has failed to yield to the notifications, the protestors told mediapersons.
The 1980 batch of approved teachers are still deprived of pension and such other Government facilities.
The State has been apprised of the teachers grievances several times in the past without any positive result as such, the protestors added.
