Call for peace, normalcy raised

To take up measures to curb further acts of communal violence and to restore peace and normalcy in the State, meetings were convened at various places to deliberate on the issue.
Kakching
Amid the unprecedented violence witnessed by the State, people of Pallel in Kakching District irrespective of communal differences came together to maintain peace and tranquillity in this difficult time.
A meeting between village committees of Kuki and Meitei communities of Pallel Town was hosted and coordinated by Assam Rifles in coordination with the Civil Administration, said a press note by the Assam Rifles.
The members from both communities expressed their trust and belief in each other and resolved to take all the measures to maintain peace in the area and stand as an epitome of peace for Manipur.
The need to maintain constant communication, warding off rumours and practicing harmony for maintaining peace in the area was highlighted.
The meeting was a landmark success and acted as a harbinger of peace for Manipur.
It is believed that the success of this meeting will spread across the whole of Manipur.

Moreh Battalion of Assam Rifles organised an interaction programme for the community leaders and Chief Security Officers (CSOs) of the troubled Moreh Town yesterday.
A press release by the PRO, IGAR (S) said that the interaction was aimed at re-establishing the trust and faith between various communities.
The community leaders and CSOs were directed to identify the rabble rousers and restrain them.
Various community leaders from different communities thanked the Assam Rifles for bringing the security situation swiftly under control, acting in a non-partisan way, providing succour and relief to the troubled people.
The community leaders also resolved to provide all possible assistance to the rescued people in the camp of Moreh Assam Rifles Battalion.
Moreh people resolved to resolve differences and bring in peace.

Deputy Commissioner Thoubal district organised a public meeting today at DC Conference hall.
The meeting was chaired by Thoubal district DC Ahanthem Subhash and it was attended by Thoubal district SP Jogeshchandra Haobijam, representatives of civil society organisations (CSOs) and political parties.
Many resolutions were taken during the meeting including prevention of further acts of communal violence in Thoubal district, to work out plan to bring back safely the residents of the district who have taken refuge in other districts across the State, to provide essential items to relief camps opened in the district and not to pose any hindrances in the passage of rescue forces along the National Highway among others.
A meeting of representatives of different communities was held today at Lemba Khun Community Hall on the theme 'Peace Mission for Communal Harmony' .
The meeting was organised by the Joint Peace Co-ordinating Committee Thoubal which is an apex body formed by different clubs and organisations in and around the Thoubal area.
The meeting was attended by various representatives of clubs, organisations of Thoubal and Village Chiefs of neighbouring tribal villages namely Lemba Khun, Tamaram Khun, Chanam-Santrok Khun, Kaprang Khun and Waithou Chiru Khun.
The meeting resolved to maintain the bond of brotherhood and peace which has been in place since the past many decades.
In this regard, a joint memorandum was also signed.
