Protest for removal of Deputy Commissioner, Tamenglong gained momentum in Tamenglong.
Public
meeting was held at market shed on Monday and effigy of Deputy
Commissioner Tamenglong was burnt.
The meeting resolved to launch intense democratic form of
agitation as their ultimatum to the State Government expired
last Saturday.
The meeting also resolved to ban all the ongoing
National Projects in Tamenglong district if the demand is not
met at the earliest.
The newly formed Joint Frontal Development Organiza-
tion, Tamenglong district alleged that the Deputy
Commissioner, Tamenglong, Marenchand Luikham, has failed
to look after public grievances and lack administrative trans-
parency with the general public and amongst the subordinates.
It further alleged that Central sponsored schemes/funds are not
implemented accordingly in the district.
According to the frontal organisation, M Luikham has
declined to cooperate in the proposed construction of "Apui
Thiankai" market shed at main bazaar, Tamenglong which is
funded by the Ministry of Development of North-Eastern
Region (DoNER), North- Eastern Council (NEC), Govt of
India.
The frontal organization has also alleged that the students
community is facing hardship on petty issues like delay in
issuing tribe certificate, domicile, income certificate, etc owing
to the incompetence of the DC.
