In a major breakthrough regarding the IED incident of February 26 at Torbung, troops of 1/11 GR under Red Shield Division nabbed one of the prime accomplices in the case on May 1, said a PIB (DW) release adding that a swift and precise operation launched by the GR troops led to the arrest of 27 years old Amit Kumar Singh of Kakching, presently staying at Loklaiphai village, in Churachandpur district.
The individual was a PREPAK cadre, who later joined PLA and is an active member of the outfit.
On February 24, Amit Kumar, along with other six cadres, hatched the plan of planting IED on the IT road.
His role in the planning was evident as he indicated, on ground, the site where the IED was placed and had organised dinner of UGs at his residence on February 25, detailed the release.
It is also informed that a 7.62 mm pistol with two live rounds of 9 mm and ten live rounds of 5.56 mm were recovered from the individual.
