'Post-vax positivity rate only 2 pc'

Imphal, July 05 2021: While informing that Covid positivity rate post vaccination is only two per cent in Manipur, principal secretary (health) Vumlunmang Vaulnam said that data of positivity rate signifies that timely vaccination could protect one from the infectious disease.

Speaking in a one day advocacy programme cum panel discussion organised by State Health Society, National Health Mission for Faith Based Organisations at MBC Chingmeirong on Monday to accelerate the pace of vaccination, Vumlunmang stressed the need to make every one aware about the benefit of vaccination to prevent the spread of Covid-19 .

As lack of understanding about the vaccination has led to the spread of rumour against the vaccination, there is a need to nullify the wrong notion being spread about the vaccination, he said and iterated that only two per cent of the people tested positive for Covid-19 after administering the vaccine.

He continued that one must become a role model and inoculate the vaccine so as to make awareness among the people.

There are some side effects in every vaccine.

Covid vaccine too has some side effect but it could not be concluded that the vaccine is harmful, the principal secretary said.

The advocacy programme was attended by State Health Society State Mission director Dr N Shyamjai, additional director MD Dr Sasheekumar Mangang, officials of Health Department, experts and representatives of churches under MBC.
