Chanura Microfin celebrates anniversary

Chanura Microfin Manipur on Saturday celebrated its 8th foundation day in a function at Lamyanba Shanglen, Palace Compound in Imphal East.
Former chairperson of Manipur State Commission for Women Dr Ch Jamini Devi was the chief guest of the function and founder secretary of Chanura Microfin Manipur and chief executive officer PK Khuman and former chairman Kh Yaiskul Singh were the president and the guest of honour respectively.
Several representatives of several private financial institutions and social organizations were also present in the function.
Dr Jamini underlined the importance of education for women in empowering them.
She said women also need political and social empowerment, but added that economic empowerment was also equally important in the process.
PK Khuman said Chanura Mirofin Manipur was set up in 2007 with the sole objective of boosting the economic status of women.
He said the private this financial institution contributes something worth mentioning to the people every year to mark its anniversary.
This year, he said, the institution will drop some fish seeds into the Loktak Lake in the interest of the people residing in the surrounding area of the lake.
Four staff members of the institution were honoured with gifts, certificates and mementos in recognition of their excellent performance in performing their duties.
