L Jatra named MPP president in-charge

Senior leader and party vice party Laishram Jatra of Khangabok has been named as the president in-charge of Manipur People's Party with immediate effect following resignation of president in-charge S Umananda from the said post.
Speaking to newspersons at the party office today, Umananda said he is stepping down from the MPP presidentship owing to personal inconveniences.
Umananda, who led one of the oldest regional political parties for six months, said that he submitted the resignation letter to vice president L Jatra today and explained that under MPP constitution senior-most leader Jatra will take charge as the president in-charge with immediate effect.
In his brief interaction with the media persons, L Jatra asserted that as a regional political organisation MPP will continue to uphold and work in sync with regional sentiment and obligations.
Seeking cooperation from every section of the society in all the future endeavours of MPP, the new party incumbent also asked all the ethnic communities to shed narrow outlook and instead work for strengthening Manipur's emotional and territorial integrity.
