Imphal, October 02 2009:
Chief minister of Manipur, Okram Ibobi has said that the wall of hatred and hostility created by men amongst men must be removed.
The Chief Minister was speaking at the function held at GM hall here to observe the National Cleanliness Day to mark the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.
Chief Minister Ibobi, who presided over the function, said that in order to remove the artificial wall, one needs to keep mind and body neat and clean.
This is what Bapuji had desired and dreamt of, he said.
Extolling the ideals and principles of the Father of the Nation, Chief Minister Ibobi said that he was born to create a new world based on a society where truth, non-violence, love, friendliness and equality prevail.
Bapuji was one of the precious sons of mother earth, Ibobi said.
He further said that Mahatma Gandhi had always tried to bring about a society from where the artificial wall created by men that divides men has been removed.
Acknowledging the various social service programmes being organised by the local clubs and organisations, the Chief Minister said that maintaining cleanliness is necessary for a healthy life.
Healthy people form a healthy nation, Ibobi said adding that the nation requires healthy people.
He said, "The need of the hour is peaceful co-existence.
We need to keep our mind clean for peaceful co-existence.
Love or hatred and violence or non-violence are born out of mind, which is either dangerous or useful.
What comes out of impure mind is dangerous, and what comes out of pure mind is always useful.
Therefore, it is essential for us to keep our minds pure and clean".
He said, thoughts of hatred and hostility are creation of human mind.
However, this does not exist between the souls.
"May drops of peace shower on the place where violence prevails.
May drops of love and friendliness shower on the place where jealousy and enmity prevail.
May peace prevail all over the world," Chief Minister Ibobi said and appealed to the people to emulate the ideals of Bapuji.
"Only then, observance of the National Cleanliness Day will be meaningful," he said.
