Opening of Passport Office Committee lauds Govt

Manipur State Haj Committee has expressed satisfaction at the opening of an office of Passport Seva Kendra in Imphal.
Speaking at a press conference held at the office of Minority and Other Backward Economic Development Society (MOBEDS), MOBC Parliamentary Secretary and Manipur State Haj Committee chairperson Md Amin Shah said that the new office would benefit the people of the State, especially the people of minority community, who wish to go to Haj on pilgrimage.
Md Amin Shah thanked the officials of Union External Affairs Ministry, Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister and MPs for opening a PSK office in Imphal.
He said that as the State now has a PSK office, people of the State do not require to go to Guwahati to get their passports.
Although, there is an instruction from Haj Committee of India to hold a passport mela every year, the State has not been able to organise it due to the absence of a passport office, he added.
Of the 700 persons who have applied for passport this year, 500 persons have received their passports while 137 persons have got the approval of travelling to Hajj on pilgrimage and the remaining are in the waiting list, he added.
Rajya Sabha MP Abdul Salam and MLA Fazur Rahim were also present at the press conference.
