LDA set to celebrate World Wetland Day with series of events

Loktak Development Authority (LDA) is gearing up to organise a two-day long celebration of World Wetland Day, which falls on February 2 .
A statement issued by Ng Sanajaoba Meetei, SE/in-charge (Wetland) LDA has shared that the celebration will kick off with a Manipur Pony rally organised in association with the All Manipur Polo Association.
The theme of the rally will be "Save Nambul, Save Loktak" .
The rally will be flagged off from All Manipur Polo Association Ground, Iroishemba in the presence of K Govindas Singh, Minister of Public Works, Youth Affairs & Sports Department; S Kunjakeswor Singh, Chairman, MANITRON; Kh Raghumani Singh, retd IAS, chairman, MANIREDA; RK Imo Singh, MLA, Sagolband AC; S Kebi Devi, Chairman MWDC; M Asnikumar Singh, Chairman, LDA and MH Khan, Additional Chief Secretary, Relief & Disaster Management, Forest & Environment, RD & PR, Government of Manipur.
The rally will culminate at Hiyangthang ground where the riders will be received by Kebi Devi, MLA, Naoriya Pakhanglakpa Assembly Constituency.
The second day of the celebrations will start at Sendra, Loktak lake, where Governor La Ganesan will release a photobook entitled "The Return of the Green" in the presence of Th Biswajit Singh, Minister for Environment, Forest, Climate Change & Agriculture.
It will be followed by the distribution of the Wetland Mitra Award and Wetland/Watershed Conservation Action Award.
The two-day-long celebration will conclude with the "Loktak Musical Evening" with performances from Blue Band.
