Imphal, June 29 2018:
Condemning the apparent lack of sincerity among the Assam Rifles personnel deployed along the India Myanmar border, Shiv Sena Manipur State Unit has demanded the Central Government to pull out the Assam Rifles deployed at the area and replace them by any other Central forces at the earliest.
Speaking to media persons at the party office at Babupara today, its president M Tombi alleged that a large chunks of territories of Manipur along the border areas from Mizoram to Churachandpur, Churachandpur to Ukhrul and Ukhrul to Arunachal Pradesh amounting to around 935 kilometres have been lost.
If the Assam Rifles protecting the border are honest and sincere, they can easily protect the border.
The Assam Rifles is bound have proper knowledge about when Myanmar erected the border pillar by encroaching about three kilometres towards Manipur side, he said.
Pointing out that Shiv Sena is highly suspicious of the Assam Rifles' performance in protecting the border areas, Tombi demanded the Central Government to replace the Assam Rifles with any other Central force.
Pointing out that the matter has become a National issue after Kwatha leaders raised concerns about the erection of border pillar near Kwatha by Myanmar, Tombi claimed that in 2013, during the time of the Congress Government, it was agreed that no change in border pillar would be allowed until and unless a survey team including officials of both countries are involved.
A team of Shiv Sena will go and meet Kwatha villagers at the earliest, Tombi said and assured that the party will not let even an inch of Manipur's soil be taken by anyone.
He also assured, that Shiv Sena Manipur Unit would pressure the National leaders to bring up the issues of the Framework Agreement, Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016 and the border pillar issue during the Monsoon Parliamentary session.
Shiv Sena also believes the BJP Government at the Centre as well as the State will take up the right steps to save the international border, he said.
On the other hand, Shiv Sena Manipur State Unit also welcomed Takhellakpam Buddhi who toured the North East States spreading awareness against rape and presented simple gifts to him as well.
