Imphal, April 29 2020:
Alleging that not all have been given their rightful share of rice quota under the PMGKAY in Thangmeiband Assembly Constituency, vice president of State BJP, Jyotin Waikhom has urged the State Government to hand over the case to the CBI and investigate the matter.
In a statement, Jyotin Waikhom alleged that the rice distribution under the PMGKAY has been highly politicised and added that it was to avert this that a proposal was submitted that the rice distribution under NAFSA be handed over to Thangmeiband United Club.
As such and under the initiative of Chief Minister N Biren, the rice under NAFSA was distributed to the public of Thangmeiband AC, claimed Jyotin Waikhom.
Simultaneously rice distribution under PMGKAY for the months of April, May and June also started, said the statement and added that under PMGKAY the rice allotted is higher than under NAFSA with 1600 quintal for Thangmeiband AC covering 32,000 people.
For those left out under the PMGKAY, a sum of Rs 25 lakh was given from the Local Area Development Fund to the respective MLAs to purchase rice under OMSS and distribute the same to the public at 5 kgs per family.
A notification to this effect was already made, added the statement.
The Centre has also instructed that rice under PMGKAY should be distributed under the respective DCs, said the statement and added that distribution of rice under NAFSA started on April 1.Jyotin Waikhom sought to know when the NAFSA rice for the month of March was procured and when it was distributed and urged all concerned to put this on the public domain.
For rice under PMGKAY the same was distributed in Thangmeiband AC from April 20 for five days but complaints have been received that people in Ward number 25 of Thangmeiband did not receive the rice, alleged Jyotin Waikhom.
