48 hrs total shutdown begins at Lamding market, indefinite boycott of MLA Brojen in Lamding area announced

The 48 hrs total shutdown of Lamding market imposed by JAC Against the Re-naming of Wanjing Lamding Municipal Council to Wangjing Municipal Council demanding withdrawal of cabinet decision to rename Wanjing Lamding Municipal Council to Wangjing Municipal Council has begun today.
The total shutdown which will cease on January 30 at 5 pm has affected normal life around Lamding market area specially the west side of the Imphal-Moreh road (NH-102) which wore a deserted look as women vendors did not show up to sell their vegetable, local shops downed their shutters and passenger vehicles refrained from parking at Lamding area parking.
However, the business was as usual on the east side of the road at Wangjing market area where the shops remained open and passenger vehicles parked at Wangjing parking area.
Speaking to the media persons, vice-president of the JAC, Laishram Prafullo said the cordial relationships and bonds between the public of Lamding and Wangjing have been dented following the decision to remove Lamding from Wanjing Lamding Municipal Council by the MLA Wangjing Tentha AC Paonam Brojen as well the State Govt adding that the total shutdown was imposed in protest against such move.
He further cautioned the State Govt that more violent agitation will be launched if their demands are not met and appealed the authority concerned to act in a fair and just manner that will be beneficial to both the public of the neighbourhood.
