Imphal, November 28 2019:
Apunba Ireipakki Maheiroi Sinpanglup (AIMS) has warned to inspect private schools which have allegedly increased the original rate of examination forms set for class X and XII examination (conducted by BOSEM and COHSEM respectively) by 100 percent.
A press release issued by publicity secretary, AIMS stated that BOSEM and COHSEM have notified the date for submission of examination form.
However, AIMS has alleged that some private schools have issued a notification increasing the rate of the examination forms by 100 percent.
The council has set the rate of the examination form at Rs 2850 and Rs 250 for each of the practical subject while BOSEM as fixed the rate of the form at Rs 2100, AIMS noted.
It further alleged that some private schools and Government schools affiliated to BOSEM and COHSEM have been found to increase the given rates in the name of form submission.
Condemning the act, AIMS alleged that the State Government has been turning a deaf ear to such matters till date and no actions have been taken up so far against such institutes.
While many schools have been charging extra for admission fees and tuition fees at their own whim and fancies which is strongly condemnable and requires urgent attention, it said.
AIMS continued that the schools affiliated to the Board and the Council should follow the rates of examination forms and added that it does not have any privilege to fix the rates on its own.
Apart from charging extra for admission & tuition fees, the schools are now interfering in the examination form rates as well which is highly condemnable, it asserted.
It claimed that many parents have raised these concerns to AIMS while parents who are Government employees have raised complaints regarding the hefty rates in admission/examination rates.
Schools are educational institutes which moulds and nurtures the young minds.
However, some schools/institutes have changed this ideology into a place to earn profit, it added.
AIMS has urged such schools and institutes to refrain from continuing such unethical acts and to refund the extra money they had charged for the examination form fill up.
It further urged those schools/institutes to issue a new notification directing to follow the rate fixed by BOSEM and COHSEM.
It further warned that unwanted incidents might happen if the schools fail to meet the demands of AIMS.
Maintaining that AIMS head office has directed its branch offices to conduct inspection drives, it warned that necessary actions will be taken up against those schools which are at fault.
Seeking immediate attention of the State Government, AIMS has asked how it is managing the mushrooming private schools while urging the State Government to develop necessary policies to prevent such matters and other unwanted situations in the future.
It appealed all to extend support and cooperation to AIMS in making the inspection drives successful and effective.
