Imphal, May 27 2014:
Over 175 passport applications were submitted today in the second day of the 2nd Passport Mela which began yesterday at the Banquet Hall of 1st MR.Regional Passport Officer, Guwahati, Achunglai Jamir said that a total of 524 applications were received during the first Passport mela held in February this year.
Among these, 400 passports have been issued while a police verification is on for the rest.
Jamir also observed that the number of applicants dropped this time when compared to the previous one.
A public impression that a Passport Office is coming up in the State could be the reason for the sinking of applicants.

The RPO also inspected the proposed State Passport Office at Old Assembly Building along with the Principal Secretary (Home) .
One MPS officer will be deputed to Guwahati for training from June 2, according to Jamir.
The ongoing passport mela would conclude tomorrow.
