Security beefed up at various points on NH-37
1000 empty trucks will leave for Jiribam today

To ensure easy and safe passage of goods trucks along the NH 37, tight security arrangements have been made at 13 different locations on NH 37 as per an order issued by DGP, Manipur on Sunday last.
The order was issued in view of the ongoing indefinite economic blockade called by the SHDDC and counter economic blockade called by UNC on all NHs of the state.
Accordingly, all the police officers along with their personnel are to be deployed for security and ROP in addition to the security forces deployed from Jiribam to Keithelmanbi at present.
Security arrangements from Jiribam to Makru (31kms) will be leaded by ASP, Jiribam with available manpower including 5MR personnel at Jiribam, a team led by CO, 5MR will be deployed from Makru to Oinamlong (20kms), CO, 7th IRB with available manpower from Oinamlong to Kaimai (14kms), CO, 6th IRB with available manpower from Kaimai to Barak (16kms), CO, 8th IRB with available manpower from Barak to Kambiron (6kms), CO, 2nd IRB with available manpower from Kambiron to Nungba (12kms), CO 4th IRB with available manpower from Nungba to Khongsang (15kms), CO 1st MR with available manpower from Khongsang to Irang (9kms), CO 3rd IRB with available manpower from Irang to Awangkhul (20kms), Dy CO 7th MR with available manpower from Awangkhul to Noney (19kms), CO 2nd MR with available manpower from Noney to Tupul (9kms), CO 8th MR with available manpower from Tupul to Kotlien (22kms) and SSP Imphal West with available manpower will be deployed from Kotlien to Kiethelmanbi (12kms).The order further says that this manpower will take positions at their respective locations before the arrival of the convoy of trucks and vehicles those locations and will withdraw only after the convoy has crossed their respective areas of responsibility.
The security personnel will be equipped with anti-riot equipments.
The date of movement of these forces will be intimated to the concerned SSP, COIs and ASPs from IGP (AP/Ops), Manipur from time to time.
The security arrangements will be come into force on NH 37 on all days of movement of empty as well as loaded vehicles, it said.
Meanwhile, the President of the Transporters and Drivers Council, Manipur speaking to Hueiyen Lanpao said that with the tight security arrangements taken up by the state government along the stretch of NH 37, around 1000 vehicles will be leaving Imphal for Jiribam to procure essential items tomorrow.
He further said that one crane each from the Transport department and TDC and one JCB and an ambulance are being deployed on NH 37, in case any unwanted incident take place.
He further appealed to the owners of all those vehicles which were burnt down by blockade supporters to report to officials of TDC.
An ex-gratia of Rs 1 lakh has been handed to the family of the deceased driver Md Rehman.
A post of an IV-grade is also given to his next to kin.
