After 7 years, TDC now to take Imphal-Dimapur road

The Transporters and Drivers Council (TDC) has revoked its 2010 decision to stop operating along National Highway 2, Imphal-Dimapur road and has also decided to keep strict vigil on the condition of the National Highways.
Following the indefinite economic blockade along the Imphal-Dimapur road in 2010 TDC had announced its decision to stop operation along Imphal-Dimapur road indefinitely.
Since 2010, TDC, in collaboration with various Meira Paibi Lups, NGOs and people have been taking up various steps to improve the condition of Imphal-Jiribam road.
Speaking to media persons during the inspection trip, the TDC president said that the association decided to organise the inspection trip along National Highway 2, around eight years after it decided to stop operating along the said route, owing to the numerous complaints from the drivers, people and NGOs regarding the condition of the road.
He said that the inspection trip was also organised after the association received news about the ban on heavy vehicles along the road and added that from today, TDC will begin looking into the condition of the road so as to ease the suffering of the passengers and the people as well as the transporters operating along the said route.
Lauding the Chief Minister, Works Minister and the High Court of Manipur for giving extra emphasis to the development of the two National Highways of the State, H Ranjit said that the association is pleased with the repair work underway along the Imphal-Dimapur road and appealed to the authority concerned to include steps to black top the portion of the road at Koubru Leikha at the earliest.
TDC will immediately revoke its decision to operate long Imphal-Dimapur road, he said and further appealed to the State Government to implement the February 6, 2016, order of the National Highway Authority of India, under the Central Motor Vehicles Act.
