10 drivers, doctors felicitated for best performing 102 NAS vehicles

National Health Mission, State Health Society along with MSS Heirang Info Manipur organised a felicitation ceremony for best performing 102 National Ambulance Service vehicles, under JSSK scheme, at the office of 102 call centre in Lamlong Bazar today.
The ceremony received ten ambulance drivers who provided best service in carrying pregnant women to hospitals safely.
Health and Family Welfare Service Manipur Director Dr K Rajo Singh graced the function as the chief guest while State Mission Director, National Health Mission Manipur Dr S Manikanta Singh as the functional president and State Nodal Officer (Maternal Health) Dr S Meena as guest of honour.
Ambulance drivers who have been conducting their duties as part of National Ambulance Service (NAS) under Janani Shishu Suraksha Karyakaram (JSSK) were feted and as such five drivers from the hill districts and five from the valley along with five doctors each were awarded with certificates and gifts.
Speaking at the function, chief guest Dr K Rajo said that there are 40 ambulance vehicles in Manipur out of which 37 are being utilized and the remaining three are currently taken for maintenance.
These ambulance provide free ride to pregnant women (who are under six months pregnant) to the hospital/ health centre for check-ups and also provides a one year free service to the mother and child after child birth.
The services includes antenatal care, transportation, medication, diagnosis to pregnant women for free.
