AR conducts mega pulse polio campaign

Units of HQ IGAR (South) organized an integrated Intensified Pulse Polio Immunization programme, witnessing a massive turn out.
Headquarters 26 Sector Assam Rifles organised the immunization programme in collaboration with PHC Pallel, said PRO, IGAR.
Medical Officer and the staff of Ad-hoc hospital administered polio drops to 130 children.
Sajik Bn organized the programme at Sajik Tampak, Gelngai, Aigejang and Tuitam Khongkhai in Chandel district.
The medical team under CMO, Dr Rajesh Kumar and in collaboration with MO and staff of Community Health Centre, Chakpikarong conducted the event.
Children between 0 to 5 years were administered polio drops, it said and added that around 162 children from Sajik Tampak, Gelngai, Aigejang, Tuitam Khongkahi and adjoining villages were administered polio drops at the booths setup by the Sajik Bn in different COBs of the Battalion.
Singngat Battalion also administered polio drops to children as part of the Nationwide 'Pulse Polio Vaccination Campaign' in majority villages of Singngat Battalion in which 540 children of various villages of the area were given polio drops.
Somsai Battalion administered polio drops to children as part of the campaign in Somsai garrison of Ukhrul district as well.
A total of 48 children were given polio drops at the unit hospital.
Tengnoupal Bn also administered polio drops to children at different locations of Tengnoupal district like Sita, Kwatha, Ril Ram Centre, Khudengthabi and Shaibol under the supervision of Regimental Medical Officer in collaboration with Primary Health Centre (Tengnoupal) .
Keen participation of villagers was witnessed in the campaign wherein 208 children were immunized.
Keithelmanbi Battalion established Pulse Polio Booths at Keithelmanbi Garrison, Andro, Canchipur COBs.
The Battalion also organised a 'House to House Vaccination Programme' by visiting maximum number of houses in various villages of Andro and Canchipur to ensure hundred percent vaccination of children in these areas, it said.
Mantripukhri Bn also established a number of booths at Mantripukri garrison, Koirengei, Sawombung, Chingmeirong and Yanganpokpi COBs in which a medical team under the Unit Medical Officer carried out immunization of over 280 children of nearby villages.
Likewise, Thoubal Battalion established a polio booth at its Battalion HQs in Phundrei in which 190 children were administered polio drops in the area of Thoubal.
