Tribal bodies decry political blame game amid pandemic

Different tribal civil society organisations of the State have come out strongly against the political blame game that has been prevailing between the ruling and the opposition parties in Manipur.
Delegates of different tribal CSOs expressed their concern over the present Covid situation and the frequent volley of accusations going around between the political parties during a press meet at Thangal General Ecological Park, Mayangkhang.
Devi Thapa, Advisor/Spokesperson of the Manipuri Gorkha Youth Association (MGYA), stated that while the people of the State have been initiating ways to defeat the pandemic, political parties are busy playing the blame game.
The Gorkha leader also urged the political parties to join hands in the fight against the pandemic and appealed to all people not to spread false propaganda relating to vaccination.
He said that vaccination is the only way to defeat the virus and save lives while urging the people to come forward for Covid vaccination.
Lalboi Lhouvum, general secretary, Thadou Students Association, Sadar Hills (TSA-SH) urged the people to provide their support to the Government in the fight against the pandemic.
While lauding the State Government for its assurance to provide essential commodities to the people during the 10 days curfew, the student leader asked the Government not to indulge in blame games especially at this crucial time.
Gogou Chongloi, deputy secretary general, TSA-HQ stated that the people of the hills do not want any kind of political blame game when the common people of the State are suffering due to the pandemic.
He asserted that the political leaders of the State should instead focus on how to defeat the pandemic at this critical juncture.
Meiduipa Thangal, president Thangal Students Union (TAJ) while urging the political parties to stop the blame game said, "Everyone knows how the Chief Minister has been striving tooth and nail to combat the pandemic" .
The meeting was attended by delegates from Liangmai Naga Council, Thangal Student Union (TAJ), Thadou Students Association-Sadar Hills (TSA-SH), Thadou Students Association-GHQ (TSA-GHQ) and Maram Students Union (MKS) .
