Over 50 detained in search operation

A massive cordon and search operation was conducted by the Imphal West District Police and commandos in two different places and detained more than 50 persons who failed to produced their proper verification identity proof and handed over to the Imphal and Porompat police stations for proper verification.
The cordon and search operation was conducted under the supervision of K Meghachandra Additional SP (operation) Imphal West and the search team was led by Inspector P Sanjoy, Officer in-charge Imphal West Commando.
Personnel of the 4th India Reserved Battalion assisted in the twin operation conducted at Uripok Haobam Dewan Leikai and Sinam Leikai under Imphal Police Station The two areas were cordoned off by Imphal West commandos and IRB personnel from early morning at around 4 am.
They called out all the males between the age of 15 to 50 years.
All the male citizens were verified one after another at the community hall located at Uripok Bachaspati Leikai.
After the verification, 42 persons who failed to produce their proper verification identity proof were detained by the police team and handed them over to the Imphal Police Station for proper verification.
Many among the persons detained for proper verification are non locals staying in rent rooms.
On the other hand a team of Imphal East district commando and Porompat Police led by Inspector P Achouba, Officer in-charge Imphal east Commando conducted a search operation under the supervision of Angam Kamei Romanus, Imphal East SP from Pureiromba Khongnangkhong up to Tribal Market along Chasad Avenue under Porompat
Police Station.
After the verification of every male individual between 15 and 50 years after calling them out along the Chasad Avenue road, 16 persons who could not produce their proper verification identity proofs were detained and handed over to Porompat police station for further verification.
