Ex-servicemen rally held

Under the aegis of the Red Shield Division, the Manipur State Ex-Serviceman Rally 2016 was held today at Leimakhong Army Hqs.
GOC Red Shield Division Major General Shashank Shekhar Mishra VSM of 57 Mountain Div and IG Major General Virendra Singh VSM of IGAR South attended as chief guests of the function besides other dignitaries.
Veterans, former army personnel and family members attended the rally which was organized to get a first hand information about the problems faced by the ex-servicemen.
Addressing the function, that was attended by over 1500 people from all districts, Shashank Shekhar said the army is committed to extend all possible help to its the retired personnel.

Organizing such a rally will help the army understand and communicate more with the ex-servicemen who are facing problems after they have retired from the service, about the policies and benefits they can receive.
"One day we all will retire and all the benefits provided to a retiree should reach all.
The army is making sure that it reaches each and every retired personnel," said Shashank Shekhar Mishra.
Further, he said that the army is working to institute a group centre for the ex-servicemen at the present M-Sector and all legal proceeding has been completed.
He urged the veteran army personnel to extend their help too in the smooth implementation of all policies and benefit from schemes given to veterans.
The State Government has been extending all possible help to the army so that each and every retired army personnel receive the benefits carved out for them.
As part of the rally, the dignitaries interacted with the veteran army personnel and World War II veterans.
Gifts were also presented to the veterans and family members of deceased army personnel.
