Imphal, April 11 2012:
The Kuki Students' Organisation, Moreh block, has submitted a memorandum to the Additional Deputy Commissioner urging him to streamline the traffic movement in Moreh town.
Drawing the attention of the ADC to the traffic chaos and the threat posed to human lives, especially to the students, KSO said that random parking of vehicles along the National Highway is posing a great threat to the lives of the people.
Due to the absence of any traffic/parking rules in Moreh town, many lives have been lost, said KSO and added that so far the authority concerned has not taken up any steps to streamline the traffic.
The KSO suggested that the stretch along the National Highway from Gate number 1 to Forest Gate be declared a no parking zone and to allot proper parking lots to the passengers and goods carriers plying on the Imphal-Moreh route.
In case no positive response is met from the office of the ADC by April 15, then KSO would be constrained to call an indefinite bandh along NH-2 (Imphal to Moreh), said
the memorandum.
