The United Golapati Hatta Development Council (UGHDC) has warned of launching intense agitation unless a man identified as Md Wahidur Rahaman, who is said to be involved in a child assault case, is arrested within a week.
The UGHDC has also submitted a memorandum to the DGP demanding the immediate arrest of Wahidur Rahman today.
Speaking to reporters today at Manipur Press Club, Spokesperson of UGHDC, Haji Arafat said Md Wahidur, who identified himself as a Director, assaulted and threatened a child namely Rahis Khan, a class VII student of Heritage Convent on April 13 while the child was heading for his tuition class.
So severe was the assault that the child is still treated at JNIMS.
The UGHDC spokesperson also strongly denounced the alleged indifferent attitude of the concerned authority in arresting the accused even as a case was already registered with the Imphal East Police under Arms Act.
As such, he warned that the Committee would spearhead intense agitation unless the accused is arrested within a week.
The victim, Rahis Khan s/o Md Riyauddin is a resident of Postal Colony, Wangkhei.
It has been reported that Rahis Khan was bludgeoned by Wahidur Rahman following a quarrel between Rahis Khan and the ward of Wahidur over seat sharing in their tuition class.
Wahidur is a resident of Keirao Makting Makha Leikai and presently staying at State Guest House.
