Traffic to be controlled during Patel's tour

Inconveniences caused to the public during the movement of the VVIP should be minimized, said note from the Presidential Secretariat to Manipur government.
This instruction hinted confirmation of the scheduled visit of President Pratibha Devi Singh Patil to Imphal.
Pratibha Devi Singh Patil is arriving in Imphal on March 10 on a two day visit.
The instruction from the President Secretariat was provided in connection with her visit, a source said.
The President will be arriving at Imphal Airport by an Indian Airlines flight BBJ at 4 pm on March 10 as per a tentative programme provided to the state government.
Soon after landing at Imphal Airport she will travel by road upto Raj Bhavan.
After a meeting with the Governor, the President will hold a series of discussions and meetings with Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh, Chairperson of State Social Welfare Advisory Board, Chairperson of Manipur State Women Self Help Group at the Raj Bhavan.
It is learnt that the information from the President Secretariat has indicated that the President has turned down the government's propsal for her to address the state Assembly.
The instruction suggested five points which includes among others to scale down the size of any motorcade by using mini buses and SUVs.State government cars following the "Tail' vehicle of the Presidential motorcade be minimized by pooling cars, ensuring that traffic along the President's route is stopped for minimum duration, guiding the organizers to hold an event at a venue and time that would involve minimum movement of the President from her place of stay and to also avoid rush hours.
The VIPs and officials receiving the President at the Airport/Helipad are to be minimal.
These will be restricted to Governor, Chief Minister, Chief Secretary or his representative, DGP or his representative, Senior Defence Service Officers, Mayor, DC of the district being visited and SSP/SP of the district.
State protocol has been asked to follow the instructions.
During her stay in the state capital, the President will inaugurate the Manipur State Informatics Centre apart from laying the foundation stone for the development of an IT Park at Mantripukhri Imphal on the next day of her arrival.
She will also launch the SWAN Project before concluding her two day visit and depart from Imphal by a special Indian Air Force flight at 12.30 pm.
In the meantime an official team of the state government led by Chief Secretary, DS Poonia is going to make an official inspection today at the IT complex at Mantripukhri and SWAN and other institutes which the visiting President is going to inaugurate and lay foundations stones on March 11 .
