UKLF refutes ambush allegation

The UKLF has categorically stated that it was not involved in any manner in the ambush against State police ahead of Chief Minister's O Ibobi's visit to Tengnoupal near Lokchao along Imphal-Moreh highway on December 15 .
Speaking to a team of media persons at an undisclosed location in Chandel district today, UKLF home secretary Daniel Thadou said that the KNLF Chairman had merged with the UNLF on his own volition.
Daniel contended that the UKLF was not involved in the Lokchao ambush, and the State Police and its intelligence agencies would be knowing the truth.
Earlier KNLF general secretary Lalmoi Haokip alleged that the Lokchao ambush was carried out by UKLF at the instruction of NSCN-IM.
Flatly rejecting Lalmoi's allegation, Daniel said that the same allegation was baseless and fabricated.
The UKLF has a suspicion that the Lokchao ambush was carried out by a gang of criminals led by Lalmoi, Daniel said.
The same group acted as mercenaries and carried out the Lokchao ambush for money.
The UKLF has a strong a suspicion that Lalmoi and his gang were involved in criminal activities that took place in Churachandpur district and the recent bomb attack at the Moreh commando complex, the home secretary continued.
Moreover, the group led by Lalmoi killed UKLF captain George Jamkholal Zou after subjecting him to merciless torture and they threw his lifeless body into Menal river on July 2, 2016 .
Lalmoi even claimed through media that he killed George Jamkholal, Daniel said.
Asking the Government whether such activities did not violate SoO ground rules, Daniel went on to ask why no actions were not taken up against Lalmoi and his followers.
KSO Gunpi block president Jangkholam Guite and his companion Jamchinthang Zou were shot and abandoned at Kholmun, Churachandpur by the same group led by Lalmoi.
Jangkholam and Jamchinthang went to Churachandpur in a Bolero jeep at the call of Lalmoi himself.
But they were abducted on the way, shot and abandoned.
The duo went to Churachandpur to bring Lalmoi so that he too could attend the function which marked the merger of KNLF with UKLF, Daniel said.
He then urged the Government to take up befitting action against Lalmoi and his followers.
Lalmoi and his group work under KNA.
As such, KNA should instruct them not to commit such violent activities.
If any further untoward incident breaks out, KNA should be accountable, Daniel said.
KNLF had merged with the UKLF on December 31 with full consent of its chairman.
As such, KNLF does not exist any more, the home secretary claimed.
He then wished that the new year may bring peace, development and communal harmony in Manipur.
