Imphal, October 01 2011:
The Zeliangrong Youth Front (ZYF) has strongly condemned the act of opening fire to students of Chil Chil Theological Seminary by suspected Kuki militants at Kanglatongbi on September 24 who also reportedly shouted "that is not your land, go away from this field" .
The failure of the State Government to react to the incident has once again exposed its double standard dealing, ZYF remarked in a press release.
Noting that the Government and various Kuki militant groups have signed Suspension of Operation (SoO) pact, the ZYF questioned how the suspected Kuki militants are allowed to roam freely with firearms.
The ZYF demanded the Government to issue strong instructions to the Kuki militant groups under SoO pact to hand over the culprits involved in the firing incident to the Government so that the culprits can be awarded exemplary punishment.
If the Government fails to book the culprits, it would be construed that the incident was carried out with prior information and permission of the Government, and hence the Government should bear all responsibilities, the ZYF added.
