Churachandpur, March 01 2015:
A District Fishery Officer who had reportedly retired yesterday was accused by local fish farmers of misappropriating funds worth Rs 8.6 lakh meant for 211 beneficiaries under the Fishery Department's Pisciculture scheme 2013-14, reports our correspondent.
The beneficiaries have taken the case before the Deputy Commissioner, Churachandpur seeking his intervention to withhold the retirement until the case is settled.
Seeking the DC's intervention, the petitioned dated 24-02-2015 alleged that 211 beneficiaries were selected on December 10, 2012 and an amount of Rs 8,61,800 was withdrawn by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and the District Fishery Officer (DFO) without ever distributing it to the beneficiaries.
The petition signed by at least three people on behalf of the 211 beneficiaries also claimed that the official concerned was due to retire on February 28, four days after they sought the DC's intervention and requested him to bar the official's retirement until and unless the fund in question is fully disbursed.
