Maka villagers demand resurvey of road construction

Apart from stopping the construction work of Maka village road, the concerned villagers have demanded conduct of re-survey of the road with village authority of Maka village.
Headman of the village, AS Eleazer while speaking to media persons today at Ukhrul said that the fresh cutting of road from BRTF Road to Maka Village was sanctioned at the estimated cost of Rs 3.8 crore for a distance covering 10 km under Package no MNO 948, whereas the department surveyed road is only about 7km.In total disregard to the PGMSY guideline, the department concerned, without consulting the village committee, a conducted survey, the VA Secretary of Maka alleged.
The villagers resolved not to accept the unilateral survey of the department but a joint survey should be done at once for good, the VA demanded.
It may be mentioned that following a misunderstanding between the villagers and the agency concerned, the villagers stopped construction work until it is settle at the higher level.
