Kakching, June 29 2019:
The 48hr bandh called by Joint Action Committee on School Phagat-hanshi Mission for Wabagai High School, Wabagai since June 28 in protest against the non-inclusion of Wabagai High School, which was established in 1935, under the programme of State Govt's School Phagathansi Mission has affected normal life in the Wabagai area.
Heavy security measures were taken up by Kakching District Police to thwart any unwanted incidents during the bandh while many students and women folks who had blocked road in front of Wabagai High School and Wabagai market respectively in support of the bandh were dispersed by the police.
According to a statement released by M Manishwor, Convenor, Joint Action Committee on School Phagathanshi Mission for Wabagai High School, Wabagai, excluding Wabagai High School under the programme of School Phagat-hanshi Mission of State Govt is akin to suppress the aspiration and ambition of the students and public of Wabagai, Keirak, Hiyanglam, Lamjao and Sekmaijin.
It said that inclusion of Kakching Higher Secondary School under the School Phagat-hanshi Mission for Wabagai AC is unfair and discriminatory and urged the authority concerned to take decision after proper deliberation.
Exclusion of Wabagai High School under School Phagat-hanshi Mission willl deprive many students of poor family from quality education which has the potential of destroying the future of students in long run, maintained the statement and urged the authority concerned to review their order regarding School Phagat-hanshi Mission and add Wabagai High School under the mission.
JAC also cautioned to launch various forms of agitation with support of the public if the authority concerned do not take their demand seriously.
